The redesign focuses on several primary objectives:

Simplified Platform Navigation

The main header menu has been simplified to three sections:

The former Distribution section has been removed for end-users, as distribution is now unified and integrated directly into the release creation flow. Also, tracks must now be edited uniquely within a release to ensure consistency; therefore, the separate \"Tracks\" section has been removed.

The 4-Step Guided Release Creation Flow

The release creation process is now organized into a required step-by-step guided workflow across three main stages:

Step 1: Release Info

This step defines release-level metadata (Title, Version, Cover Image, Label, Licenses).

Step 2: Track List & Info

This step manages track inclusion, order, and track-specific metadata (Genres, Lyrics, Credits, ISRC).

Step 3: Delivery Options

This step sets details to launch the release (Release Date, Countries, Platforms, Purchase options).

Step 4: Review and Request Distribution

After the three steps are completed, users are led to a last revision, to confirm that all the data informed is correct before requesting the distribution. 

By clicking on the “Request distribution” button, users will be prompted by a double confirmation to ensure that they have the rights to distribute the content and acknowledge the implications of this final action. 

Upon confirmation, the release will be sent for review, and a confirmation page detailing the next steps will be displayed.

Post-Submission Status and Edition Control

Upon distribution request submission, you will see a clearer metadata summary and enhanced visibility of the release status.

Admin Capabilities

As an admin, you’ll continue to have access to the main management tools and features, although some operational processes may be affected by the changes introduced in the new experience.

To claim a profile in Apple Music for Artists you have to do it through https://artists.apple.com/.

Any artist can log in with his Apple ID and fill out a form in which they will be asked to write the profile name they wish to claim, to select the albums associated with that profile, and to point their role in the project (artist, manager or label manager) as well.  

\n

Apple Music will also ask to fill in the contact information as well as with the label’s / distributor’s and the manager’s and to link it at least, with one of the artists' verified profiles on Facebook or Twitter. Apple Music for Artists will verify all the information and the identity before giving access to the platform.

\n

Spotify

\n

To get your Spotify Artist Profile verified and to manage it yourself, you’ll need to request access to Spotify For Artists. Once you’ve done that, you’ll get the blue check on your artist profile (the hallmark of Spotify-recognized profiles).

\n

To request access to Spotify for Artists just fill out this form by following the steps below:

  1. Indicate whether you have a Spotify user account (you must have one to manage an artist profile on the platform).
    2. \n
  2. Log in with your user account.
    3. \n
  3. Indicate your role (artist, manager, label, etc.), your name, the Spotify user account you want to associate with the profile, and an email to send the notifications.
    4. \n
  4. Indicate the name of the artist or the band whose profile you want to claim and verify.
    5. \n
  5. Lastly, verify the Twitter account of the artist or the band and provide links to the website or social networking profiles.

\n

Spotify will check the information and then the blue checkmark will be added to your profile. This is what indicates that you are a verified artist by Spotify.

Then, Spotify For Artists will allow you to change your profile and background pictures whenever you want, create playlists, and check stats as to how, how much, and where your songs are being listened to or who are your listeners, among many other interesting data.

Moreover, you’ll be able to synchronize your profile with Songkick to show your concert dates at your profile or with Merchbar to sell your merchandising with Spotify.

First of all, head to the Apple App or Google Play Store and install the Amazon Music for Artists app. Once the app is open, you will be directed to sign in using an Amazon retail account. If you do not have an Amazon retail account, you will need to create one in order to continue going through the sign-up and artist claim flow

In this menu you can see both the confirmed royalties and the estimated royalties generated by your entire catalog. In the Royalties > Analytics section you'll see your estimated and confirmed royalties, and in the royalties > Reports section, you'll see just your confirmed royalties.

In Royalties > Analytics, the platform displays the Estimated Royalties Graph until the last royalties report was uploaded.

The estimated royalties are updated monthly between 15th-30th and the info will appear in 60 days. For example, February royalties will be uploaded on 15th-30th April. So, to visualize correctly your royalties in the graph you have to select a \"starting date\" and an \"ending date\" with not less than 60 days and click on \"Reload data\".

\n

The system will show the Estimated Royalties Evolution in each channel with a different colour:

Below the graph you can use different filters so you can analyze your estimated royalties according to the following guidelines:

If you place the mouse on any graphic points, you will see the respective amounts in concrete periods.

Reports

In the section Royalties > Reports you can check your royalties reports. They are already processed, confirmed, and added to your Balance.

With the “Request Report” option, you will be able to download reports on demand, which means that once you request the report for the corresponding sales or confirmation period, you will see the status of the request in the same tab.

A file containing all transactions included in this royalty report can be downloaded. This information is fully transparent, as we transfer the exhaustive information that each channel shares with us.

\n

Once you have these files downloaded, you can open them with Excel or a similar program.

In the section Royalties > Balance you can see your current balance as well as all different history transactions like orders, or deductions:

Create and distribute your release step by step

To distribute your release, you must select “Create a release” (regardless of the format) in Catalog >  releases. This is the process that must always be done, whether it's an album, an EP, or a single.

4. Preview and distribution

Here you will see all the information about the release that has been added. In the upper right, the button “Distribute this release” will appear, indicating that you can distribute.

By clicking that button, you will see all available distribution channels. Select the channels you want. Once the channels have been selected, the summary of your order will appear, and you can proceed to checkout. You only have to add your billing information and confirm the payment.

5. History

\n

Once the release has been validated and sent to distribution, you will be able to verify the status of the pending deliveries as well as the QC approval in the tab “5. History”, a “Finished at” date and “Completion time” indicates that the delivery has been processed. Take into account that the content will be available within a period of 2 to 15 days depending on each DSP.

At the end of each month (usually between the 20th and 30th day), we confirm sales on the platform after receiving payments from the channels.

The information about the total amount of confirmed sales to invoice is sent to your admin email address at the beginning of the following month.
After we receive this invoice within the first 15 days of the month, we pay to your bank account or the Paypal account that we have on file for you on the 30th of the next month, so you can respond to your customers' requests regarding royalty payments.

Important Note: Take into account that any fraud-related audit on your catalog can extend the usual payment term until the team discards any illegitimate royalties.

Before starting to distribute your catalog, you have to manage the setup of the platform, including the branding, as well as payments and pricing options.

\n

Go to the Setup section and start customizing your platform.

Creation and distribution process

\n

These are the basic steps of the distribution process flow with SonoSuite:

  1. The end-user creates a release and requests the distribution to channels.
    2. \n
  2. The release will enter in the delivery pipeline, reaching the Quality Control team for review.
    3. \n
  3. After the corresponding review, the release will be approved, or in case modifications are needed, the release will be rejected if you have Standard Support and you will be contacted by the QC team if you have Premium Support.
    4. \n
  4. Once the release has been approved, the platform will automatically process the delivery of the content to the selected channels.
    5. \n
  5. The status of the deliveries can be followed from tab 5. History of each release.

The royalties and payment process is a complex process that takes time and has different actors involved, from the channels up to your end-users. Here below a quick summary of the main steps.

1. SonoSuite monthly reports of the confirmed royalties per channel.

\n

  • Every month you receive the email notification “[ROYALTIES] Monthly end user royalties confirmed”
    • \n
  • Attached to this email, there is the \"confirmed_royalties_monthly_report_receivable\" report, which informs about the totals generated over the last period, divided per channel.
    • \n
  • This email is meant for the Admin in order to invoice SonoSuite and receive the money reported
    • \n

2. Royalties' confirmation for the End-User.

  • While confirming royalties at the end of the month, SonoSuite is managing the import of this balance on the platform for the Admin first and then for your End-Users (accordingly to the Confirmations Users Day you choose).

  • Because of this, it is not that the same day you receive the confirmation, the user will get the balance updated. This is done in order to give you the time to invoice us, receive and have the money in your pocket when your users will request to be paid.

Maintaining compliance with DSP and industry requirements helps ensure successful content distribution, protects royalty payments, and reduces the risk of content takedowns, account restrictions, withheld royalties, or other enforcement actions.

Main Roles Explanation

Primary Artist

The name(s) of the principal artist(s) or band(s) who participate in the release.

 

Featuring

The artists who accompany the primary artist in the release. Both primaries and featuring artists compose the “Display artists”, which are the main highlighted roles at a track level.

 

Producer

This is the person that manages the sound recording. Frequently can be the person who leads to achieving the main concept for the production. This role can be displayed on the cover art as long as it is justified all along with the release.

 

Composer

This role should be assigned to the people who have composed the music on the track or the album. In regular releases it can only be used at the track level, when the release is a single, the role must be reflected at the track and album level. Since every time more channels are requesting this role as mandatory for distributing content to their platforms we recommend adding it as much as possible, especially when the release is a cover or version from another artist, in which case its use will be completely mandatory - for more information about it, please, check the “Licensing requirements” block in this article. 

 

Lyricist

The people who have made the lyrics of the track.

 

Performers (specific role)

The singer(s) and/or the instrumentalist(s) who have participated in the recording of the release of each track. These roles should be assigned to the people who interpret the music heard on each track or in the entire release.

 

Remixer

This is the role to be assigned to the person who re-edits or adds new elements to a pre-existing recording. Its use demands that the term \"Remix\" is used in the version field at the track and/or album level - depending on if it is a one-track single or not. If the remixer is known, the name must be included in the version field along with the expression “Remix” (i.e.: “Flume Remix”). Please note that a remixer is not the same as the mixer of an album; in case the mixer or sound engineer must be included as a producer instead. For more information on the correct licensing of remixes, check our “Licensing requirements” block.

In order for artists to have their lyrics on Spotify, they need to add their repertoire to MusixMatch.

In addition, Musixmatch has launched a new service Musixmatch for Music Creators, where artists and/or labels can sign up to upload and sync their lyrics.

\n

Also, everyone can create an account on Genius and start transcribing lyrics and adding new songs and lyrics. However once this is done, does not mean it will be updated in Spotify. Genius + Spotify integration is solely handled by the Genius in-house team, which picks out songs based on popularity, brand collaborations, and the tastes of our content team. If you think an artist might qualify for the Spotify integration, please send a message to streetlights.

If a song does not currently have lyrics available, you will see “Lyrics aren't available for this song”. Facebook Rights Manager team is working diligently to add new lyrics every day. Lyrics are being compiled and delivered to the channel by their lyric partner MusixMatch.

So, if you want to ensure that your lyrics are available in Stories you must register them to their lyric partner MusixMatch. Anyone can sing up and add lyrics to their song!

Which DSPs can be activated on my SonoSuite platform?

The DSPs mentioned in this section are automatically activated in your service once you acquire your platform. You can activate/deactivate them depending on your needs and those of your users.

 

⚠ Note that some DSPs may be deactivated by our Distribution department, depending on the classification of your content and the amount of fraud we may find.

Own Contracts

Some DSPs can only be activated on the platform if you have your own contracts with them. These DSPs are:

Process an Outpayment

\n

Outpayment requests are registered on the platform. The action of paying End Users has to be managed by the admin outside of the platform, via your bank account, PayPal account, or any alternative payment method you may use.

Approved payment requests

Once the payment has been done by the admin, click \"Admin pay\", and fill out any comment you want to register a confirmation of payment, ie. a payment reference. This comment will be visible on the outpayments receipt. Then click \"Ok\".

This way the outpayment will be registered on the platform and will be deducted from the user's balance. In the users' accounts, the outpayment will be visible as a \"Royalty payment to account\" in the \"Balance\" tab of every user profile.

We recommend checking the above points before delivering content to Apple Music, this will fasten up the delivery process and will ensure the successful publication of your catalogue on this channel. Not following these guidelines will result in content not being published on Apple Music and the possible Takedown of your whole catalogue from the channel.

Simply make the needed modification of the aspects that are allowed and send again the release to the same channels originally selected. This action is done from each release's tab “6. Distribution”, by selecting “Update to all channels”.

The platform does not allow me to update the Audio File or Cover Image

\n

To update the audio or image of a release, all deliveries to channels must have been completed. That is, while there are deliveries being processed, the platform will not allow this metadata to be updated.

\n

If you need to make the change immediately, you can go to the “5 History” tab and click on the “Delete all pending submissions” button , which will allow editing of your release.

\n

 

\n

Important Note: Take into account that if you click on the “Remove all pending deliveries” button from tab 5 “History” and the deliveries are not removed, this means that they are already being processed. In that case, you must wait until all deliveries/updates/takedowns/ are completed so you can update the cover art/audio file.

\n

 

\n

How to perform an Update that is not allowed?

\n

To make this kind of change, you should follow the following steps:

\n
    \n
  • Create an exact copy of the release that has to be updated (same title, cover, tracks, etc.) But without the same UPC.
    • \n
  • Go to the original release (the one that has been already distributed and has UPC code) and request the takedown to the channels. If you previously tried to change the order or amount of tracks and it updated incorrectly, put everything as it originally was before the takedown, that way the procedure will be managed successfully.\n
    • \n
  • Distribute the new release, with additional tracks or corresponding changes, which will have a new UPC assigned automatically. Regarding the ISRCs, won’t be modified, unless the release includes a track that has not been previously distributed and that has not a previous ISRC assigned.
